6 years of research have brought the key elements of quality language teaching to light.

Dany Etienne is an assistant at the UCL and teaches English and German in secondary school. He will defend his doctorate thesis tomorrow. The thesis' conclusions were widely reported by the press today.

Dany Etienne identifies the key elements for quality language courses:

  • Clearly defined programmes and objectives, based on priority skills, -participating in discussions, understanding the news-  and based on the reference European framework levels;
  • adequate multimedia material;
  • appropriately sized groups to encourage interaction.

Options included in CLL's teaching policy for many years: programmes suited to the needs of everyone, fully-equipped classrooms and small groups giving everyone the chance to get involved!
