Losing motivation to learn a language can happen to anyone, but there are many ways to regain the desire to learn Dutch!

  1. Make sense: Think about why you started learning Dutch.
Whether it’s for a trip, to talk with friends or for your studies, remember the goal that motivated you in the first place.
  2. Personal interest: Find subjects that interest you and look for resources in Dutch about them.
Whether it’s films, series, songs or books, learning will be more enjoyable if you’re interested in what you’re studying.
  3. Set yourself small challenges: Rather than setting yourself a big, distant goal, set yourself small, achievable, short-term challenges.
For example, learn 10 new words a day or watch an episode of your favorite series in Dutch.
  4. Regular practice: Try to practice a little every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
Regularity is the key to progress and staying motivated.
  5. Change your method: If you’re always using the same learning method, try something new.
There are many apps, games and interactive learning methods that can make learning more fun and effective.
  6. Join a community: Find people to talk to in Dutch, whether online or in real life.
This will allow you to practice the language more naturally and feel more involved.

Remember that it’s normal to have ups and downs when learning a language.
The important thing is to find what motivates you, and remember the benefits and joys you’ll get from speaking Dutch.
You can do it!
