The best advice for choosing the right English course for me

Choosing the right English course

What should I look out for when choosing an English course?

With so many English courses on offer, here are a few key points to bear in mind when making your choice:

  • The frequency of lessons: learning English requires frequency to fix new skills. Less than one lesson a week will make it very difficult to progress.
  • Timetable: make sure you choose a timetable that fits in with your professional and family life. If you have a lot of trouble keeping to the timetable, you’ll have a hard time keeping up with the course.
  • Teachers and teaching staff: an experienced, well-trained teacher is essential. We have to be careful with all these courses given by improvised teachers.
  • Level: always choose a course adapted to my level of English (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).
  • The group: opt for a group of 4 to 8 people maximum, and make sure the levels are evenly matched.
  • The school: choose an experienced school that specialises in language teaching. The school’s recognition by academic institutions and international language teaching associations are further guarantees of the effectiveness of our methods.
  • Specificity: the course must be able to adapt to my needs and the way I’ll be using the language.
  • Practice: opt for courses where there are plenty of opportunities to speak. It’s the secret to daring to speak English!
  • Miracles: avoid courses that promise to teach you English fluently in just a few hours. If it’s too good to believe, don’t! These false promises will waste your time, your motivation and sometimes even your money.

English courses with private teacher

What is an English course with a private teacher?

In this type of English course, you are alone with your teacher, who is entirely focused on your progress. It’s a highly effective solution, totally tailored to your specific objectives. This is the most personalised solution.

One-to-one lessons allow you to tailor your timetable. You and your teacher agree on a flexible schedule.

English lessons with a private tutor can be given in a classroom or as virtual lessons via video-conferencing.

The flexibility and efficiency of one-to-one English courses make them a very attractive solution for people with very busy schedules: company directors, self-employed professionals, lawyers, doctors and healthcare professionals, etc.

Online English courses

English courses with group or private tutors are also available in virtual classes via video-conferencing systems.

This type of course is very practical for avoiding travel to the training center where the classes are held. It’s easy to schedule an English course in Visio in the middle of the day or at the end of the day.

Online courses are also a great solution when you live far from training centers in rural areas. This increases the accessibility of English courses with experienced teachers.
